ROOT Dog Training getting to the ROOT of the problem!
The ROOT Facility – A solution for every dog & every owner!
ROOT Dog Training is very excited to be putting down “ROOTs” in Highwood, IL. In early 2012 we will be opening our dedicated dog training boutique. Our facility will be the only training only facility in the area. We will have a quiet, fully foam matted training space.
You will enter into our facility’s comfortable waiting and boutique area. Our boutique will focus on training related specialty items from treats, to leashes and everything in between. This area is safely separated off from the training space. Also there is a separate entrance and exit to our facility to minimize interactions with unfamiliar dogs.
One of our most exciting offerings is our library corner. At ROOT we believe strongly in continuing education. We also know that many dog books and videos are not available to everyone and can be rather expensive. So we have decided to open our own Dog Book and Video Library. Our collection is always growing so please come check it and a book out!
Parking Information
There is parking at the strip mall center. Additional parking is just north and south off of Washington Ave. Please be aware that the train tracks at the west end of the parking area are an active Metra line. If your dog is sound sensitive please make sure they are securely leashed before letting them out of the car.
When driving through Highwood be aware that cars crossing the train tracks going westbound DO NOT have a stop sign. You will have a stop sign if you are driving on Greenbay Road.
Dog Potty Area
There is grass in the median of the strip center and at the West end of the parking lot - by the train tracks. Please potty your dogs there. There is a trash can by the dumpsters at the West end of the building. You MUST pick up after your dog! Please do not allow your dog to pee on the building or any cars.

Lending Library Info and Policies
- Books are checked for a 2 week period and can be renewed 1 time if it is not on reserve.
- Videos are checked out for a 1 week period and can be renewed 1 time if it is not on reserve.
- You must have a current membership card. You must present your card to check out an item.
- In order to have a current membership card you must pay your membership fee and have a current credit card number on file.
- Fines will be assed for late returns.
- If the item is damaged or lost you will be charged the replacement cost of the item. Please understand that it may be more then list price if the item is out of print.
