K9 Nose Work® Classes – A class for every dog & every owner!
ROOT Dog Training strives to give each team the best training class environment and personalized attention in every class. Nose Work Classes are limited in size depending on the level of class and the length of class.
Sara McLoudrey is proudly a Certified Nose Work Instructor (CNWI). All of her training has been with the founders of the sport of K9 Nose Work. Sara actively trains and trials her own dogs in Nose Work.
All ROOT Dog Training classes are in a dog friendly, positive training environment with a focus on clicker training. The use of punishment and aversive collars such as choke, prong, pinch or shock/e-collars is not permitted in any of ROOTʼs classes.
Introduction to K9 Nose Work®
Is your dog overly energetic, shy or just bored? Then Nose Work is the class for you.
All dogs have noses, all dogs like to sniff! Now it’s time to put that nose to use for the fun new sport of K9 Nose Work!
In this Introduction to Nose Work class we will focus on teaching you how to cultivate your dog’s natural scenting abilities. They will be on the hunt for food & toys and in the mean time exercising both their minds & their bodies. It is a great class for ALL dogs - young, old, active, shy, and even reactive! So come and find out how much fun it is to have your dog use it’s nose.
All dogs work independently. Your dog must be confined when not working. You can either bring a crate, use one of ours or confined them in the car.

K9 Nose Work® Intro to Odor
Now that you & your dog have been introduced to the fun of Nose Work it's time to take it to the next level. In this class we introduce the first official target odor of birch. We will continue to work on new concepts, start to hone your dogs hunting ability, and work on your ability to read your dog.
This class is for dogs that have completed 12 weeks of Introduction to K9 Nose Work or have the instructor's permission.
Class is for 6 weeks. Your dog must be confined when not working. You can either bring a crate, use one of ours or confined them in the car.

Continuing K9 Nose Work® Skills Now that you & your dog have been introduced to the target odor it's time to take it to the next level. In this class we will continue to work on new concepts, start to hone your dogs hunting ability, introduce additional target odor(s),and work on your ability to read your dog. We will be working on ORT preparation also.
This class is for dogs that have completed Advanced Nose Work or have the instructor' s permission. Class is for 6 weeks. Your dog must be confined when not working. You can either bring a crate, use one of ours or confined them in the car.

Vehicles and Exteriors K9 Nose Work® Skills Class
Now
that you & your dog have been introduced to the target odor it's
time to introduce the new elements for competition - Vehicles & Exteriors. In this class we will continue to
work on new concepts and work on your ability to read your dog. This
class is for dogs that have completed 12 weeks of Nose Work Classes.
Your dog must be
confined when not working. You can either bring a crate, use one of ours
or confined them in the car. Some weeks we may meet in other locations.

Competition K9 Nose Work® Skills - Drop In Class!
This class is for dogs who have passed their ORT and are working towards Nose Work titles. You and your dog must have taken classes in all four elements of Nose Work.
Your dog must be confined when not working. You can either bring a crate, use one of ours or confined them in the car.
