Positive Reinforcement Training

At ROOT, we strive to help you develop well-behaved companion and competition dogs using positive reinforcement – operant and classical conditioning – training techniques. This positive approach to training is done with the use of a clicker, praise, food and fun. At ROOT, we never train with the use of force, fear, physical manipulation or corrective collars.

At ROOT we know that to give everyone the best chance for success it means working with both the owner/handler and their dog. All good dogs come from good owners with the help of great trainers. We find it very important that the owners are treated positively and with respect along with their dogs.

If the owners are not treated in a positive way then they will not treat their dogs in the same manner. We strive to help train you the owner as well as train your dog. As you complete classes, you will build the skills and gain the confidence needed to continue training your dog. ROOT’s training philosophy comes from information gathered from various expert sources and years of practical application.

You enter into our facility’s comfortable waiting and boutique area, which is air conditioned and heated so you and your dogs can concentrate on training instead of the weather. Our boutique focuses on training related specialty items from treats, to leashes and everything in between. This area is safely separated off from our quiet and fully foam-matted training space. We are the only dedicated training space in the area. There is also a separate entrance and exit to our facility to minimize interactions with unfamiliar dogs.

There is grass in the median of the strip center and at the west end of the parking lot – by the train tracks. Please potty your dogs there. There is a trash can by the dumpsters at the west end of the building.

You MUST pick up after your dog!

Please do not allow your dog to pee on the building or any cars. We ask that you remember to be respectful of our neighbors.
